Watching a dream I’ve held for seven years transform into a physical book in my hands, and then seeing real people turn its pages… December 14, 2025, was more than just a signing day for me. It was the first major encounter between my debut graphic novel, "Kanat and Tayga: The Arrow of Ülgen," published by Karakarga Publications, and its readers.
Meeting you all, drawing a custom sketch for each and every one of you, and sharing that excitement was an indescribable feeling. Simply signing a name wasn't enough; I wanted to bring the world of Kanat and the mischief of Tayga to life right there beside you through my drawings.
Moments That Echoed the World of the Book
That day at the booth, we didn't just sign books and chat; we witnessed how the world of the story resonated in real life:

Like a Living Legend: A reader arrived with his family, his hair braided in ancient Turkic tradition and wearing a warrior’s wristband. I was deeply moved to learn they had named their daughter "Tomris," inspired by the legendary historical figure Tomris Hatun. Meeting a family who so deeply embraces the cultural heritage that Kanat and Tayga represent was the most vivid proof of why I poured so much effort into this project.
Passion Against the Clock: Just before the signing began, I received a message on Instagram. A police officer on duty at TÜYAP wrote that he was doing everything he could to hand over his shift and make it in time. Meeting him after his long shift and having such a sincere conversation was truly unforgettable.
An Adventure Finished on the Metro: Another wonderful bit of news came during the commute home. A reader who picked up the book at the fair started reading as soon as they boarded the metro and finished the entire adventure before reaching home! The question, "I’m eagerly waiting for the second one, when is it coming?" is one of the most motivating things a comic book creator can hear.
A Throat Singing Surprise: And of course, that moment... Right in the middle of a conversation, a reader started throat singing, instantly transporting us all to the steppes of Central Asia. Our laughter echoed throughout the entire fairground.

Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who didn't leave me alone during this major stop in Istanbul, those who waited in line at the Karakarga booth, and those who sent their support via Instagram. The journey of Kanat and Tayga is just beginning, and it’s wonderful to walk this path with you.
See you in new adventures!
